Transformed by Love

We see injustice all around: families torn apart, women desecrated, black America dishonored, refugees rejected, civilians bombed and starved. Members of our human family live in fear and under attack. Hatred is directed at entire communities when they take pride in their uniqueness. Falsehood is upraised like a flag of victory, emblazoned across the sky.

But let us not pour our energy into blame, retaliation, offense, defense. Let us not fixate on the ‘other’ and their wrongs. Those who sit huddled in fortresses built by ego, striking out as the walls crumble around them, cannot hold out forever.

Let us instead allow our hearts to break open. Let us bear witness and bear the pain of those who suffer. Let us keep our eyes open and stay connected. Let us allow the hurt of those who are dishonored to become our hurt, searing within our chest, aching in our depths.

And let us cling to the Divine One who breathes us into being, allowing That Love to be our anchor in the face of overwhelm. Let us be fortified and shaped so that when the call comes forth to bring a new world into being, to build a new society founded on love and unity, we are ready to fulfill our destiny.

We will need to be strong, yet humble, resilient, yet tender. We will need to be persistent in our alignment with truth and courageous enough to step outside of our ego defenses and into the uncharted land of Oneness. We will need to be unyielding in our defense of justice, and yet we must yield always to the invisible Heart that guides all and shapes our future.

Right now, in these hours of turmoil and confusion, let us allow ourselves to be transformed by love.
