Corinne Andrews, she/her, E-RYT 500

It is an honor to co-own and co-direct Yoga Center Amherst. It is my hope that our center and all we offer here can be a refuge for all people. That it may be a sacred space (both virtually and in person) for the various aspects and threads of yogic practices – A place that can help us to awaken more, waking up to the depths of our Selves and contribute to healing the racial, social and environmental injustices throughout the world.

I am the lead teacher of the 100Hr In Depth Study and 200 Hr Embodyoga® Teacher Training, and the Developer and lead teacher of Birthing Mama®90hr Prenatal Yoga and Wellness Teacher Training and author of the new book Birthing Mama: Your Companion to a Holistic Pregnancy Journey.  I’ve been teaching yoga to people of all ages (beginning in the womb!) and abilities since 2003 and ALL beings are warmly welcome in all that I offer.

In my classes and trainings you will find a loving environment where you can travel deeply into yourself, exploring your body’s many layers and systems from the most energetic to the physical. Always moving with your breath as your guide, you may explore pranayama (breath control/practices), flowing sequences as well as slow, deep holding of asanas (postures), mantra/chanting, prayer, concentration and meditation (dharana and dhyana).

Together, may we delve into these yogic practices as a means to finding, feeling and embodying unity with our Selves and with the Divine. May we feel spirit and matter as one within ourselves and take our experiences from practicing together into living yoga in the everyday moments of life…living a life Divine HERE on earth. May we face every aspect of ourselves with acceptance and compassion, awaken from the inside out and be agents of change upon the earth. May yoga help us all to rest and open our hearts and stand with the widespread suffering and grief on our planet.  May we each be individually guided into our personal dharma to become agents of change on earth.

In addition to weekly classes, in-depth study and teacher trainings, I offer private yoga sessions.  Private yoga sessions are a great love of mine because the nature of one on one sessions allows for a much more intimate and specific depth that is unique for each individual.  You can see more about private sessions HERE

And for the back story and training history if it is of interest you….

As a baby I was highly sensitive and this continued into childhood where my empathy and compassion for other’s pain grew. In fourth grade I was plunged into the world of “anxiety disorders” and began to learn the art of breathing and riding the waves that would come and go. Into teenage years I was called into exploring altered and expanded states of consciousness which lead me to spiritual books and the practices and teachings of yoga. The serious yoga studies began when I was a student at UMass here in Amherst and I went on to make yoga the center of my life, graduating through the BDIC department with a focus on Cross Cultural and Alternative Health and Healing.  I trained in Classical Ashtanga Yoga as taught by Baba Hari Das, Embodyoga® with Patty Townsend (on-going since 2004), Shiatsu with Nini Melvin, Meridian Yoga with Daniel Orlansky, Prenatal & Postnatal with Arden Pierce and CDH, Abby and Nissa for level two PYTT, MYT for Trauma with Suzanne Manafort, Philosophy with Douglas Brooks, as a Birth Doula with Michele L’Esperance and on-going Tantrik Yoga Philosophy studies with Christopher Hareesh Wallis. In addition I’ve taken many different workshops with various leading teachers, such as Aloka Marti, Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen and Judith Laster.  I am deeply moved and uplifted by the teachings of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo, Ramana Marharshi, Neem Karoli Baba, Ram Das, RamaKrishna, Amma and more!
My “in body, in daily life” beloved spiritual teacher GurujiMa, the Village of Light Ashram and community have been a profound support to me since 2002 through a constant depth of love and light that has helped me to embody the essence of yoga, move beyond fear and live a sacred life in service to Divine Consciousness and Spiritual Activism.  I am also very grateful for the opportunities I have had to travel, spend in-depth time in and teach in India as well as the teachers I’ve been blessed to share satsang with while there.  Spending time and space in Mother India, has taught me aspects of yoga that are only possible from being there – immersed in the culture, land, vibration, people and temples of India.  Most recently, I became a grateful graduate of the Mindful Grieving Yoga Therapy Teacher Training and am currently enrolled in YCA’s Wellness Ambassador Program, so I can take the 20 years of dabbling in Ayurveda to the next level of learning living and teaching Ayurveda!

In addition to loving the practice, teaching and living of yoga, I am a huge lover of the woods, hiking, gardening, cooking, cleaning, all thing nature, dabbling in growing and creating with herbs, and being mama to my two human kids and my one furry kid. Morning Sadhana, silent hikes alone in the woods with my dog and prayers with the Divine Mother within me and all around me is the bedrock on which I sit.

Feel free to reach out to me with any questions – really I’d love to hear from you!  corinne@yogacenteramherst.com
